How often has the BCS worked as advertised? Maybe a couple of times? The entire system was designed to settle the national championship discussion. Instead, it's made it worse.
It's highly unlikely, but today UConn could beat WVU. Mizz could beat Kansas. We're then looking at Mizz vs Ohio State right? Not necessarily. Oklahoma could beat Mizz in the Big 12 championship game.
What happens then?
A team that won't win the SEC, Georgia, would be likely get the nod. That's right. A team that won't win their own conference and will finish the year with 2 losses, would be playing for the national championship.
I've been a fan of the "plus one" concept, but at this point.. That's not even enough. 8 team playoff or bust. Keep the silly rankings and illogical formulas. Just take the final 8 and let them loose. This way, UGA would still have a shot at it, but they'd have to earn it, not slide in because of some wacky formulas.
